April ISS and Moon

Had a good few ISS passes in April and clear night's to match! ( Shock Horror ). Having 2 weeks off work, joys of working within a school ;), I managed to get quite a few images with my phone. Won't post them all, too many! But here are some of the better passes I managed. The bright 'star' that the ISS can be seen passing is Jupiter and in the last shot you can see the ISS passing the Moon with Jupiter behind.

Clavius & Tycho

Had some clear skies at long last! I decided to experiment a little with the Barlow's I have.  Heard some say they have attached more than one with an eyepiece, so I gave it a go. I put a 2 and a 3x Barlow together with a 26mm EP and 2 2xBarlow's with a 26mm EP.  I got so in to it I missed imaging a very bright ISS pass!!! The very close up view of Clavius & Tycho was the 2 and 3xBarlows.
Also had to give Jupiter a go with the 2 and 3xBarlows, 15 mm EP and an 80A filter. Hard to get the focus right but I'm happy with the result.
The last image was taken just with my Samsung S3 and a 12x zoom lens. Was surprised my phone done so well without my scope! None of these images have had any processing done, just straight off my phone, as is.

Moon flyby!

Found all my old avi's and slowly going through them all when I came across this one of the Moon. Not sure what it is that flies by! At first I thought it may have been something going across my field of view closer to home but the more I've watched it the less sure I am. Would be nice to hear everyone's view on what they think it could have been!

Jupiter with 80A filter.

Managed to get a quick shot of Jupiter tonight before the clouds stopped play! It's not looking too good over the weekend here either :(. Uploaded straight from my phone on which I could make out 2 of Jupiters Moons captured too. Taken with my Samsung Galaxy S3, held to my 15mm EP and 3xBarlow.

ISS

Here's a couple of ISS photo's I took late last year, October and December 2013, using my Samsung Galaxy S3. 1st one was done with a 10 sec exposure and the 2nd was 20 sec. I used an app on Android called Camera FV-5 which allows you to do up to 60 sec and it's free. I know there is one for the iphone called shutter cam (I think). I'm Back!!! It's been a LONG time since I've posted or done any astronomy due to personal and family commitments but now I have the time to re start and get back in to the hobby I love. I'm a bit rusty, haven't touched any editing software etc since my last post on here so back to basics for me! Also I no longer own my beloved Celestron 4SE telescope, I do still have my Skywatcher though and a brilliant Samsung Mobile. I've been experimenting with handheld shots held up to the eyepiece and will be posting my results. Here are some of the photos I've taken in the last few weeks of the Moon and Jupiter, no editing just straight off my phone. (The blue Jupiter is with a 80A filter). Hope you enjoy and even encourage a few of you to grab your phones and give it a go....

Mosaic of the Plato region

After a rather long break from imaging i managed to get some avi's of the Plato region. Not great as it was very windy and also had problems focusing. Taken on the 12th August, using my Celestron 4SE @F13, Toucam proII @10fps, 6 images using roughly 450/500 frames. Stacked in Registax4, processed in Gimp2.4 and stitched using i-merge.

Few images between 4th-19th March

Not had much chance to get out recently mainly due to cloud!!! Managed another Saturn on the 4th, not overly happy with the colouring but getting better. Taken with a Celestron 4 SE @F13, 3xbarlow, Toucam pro. Can't remember exact number of frames but it was around 1100 used @5fps. Processed between Gimp and Registax4.
The moon images are from the 17th and 19th March and through cloud! I wasn't going to let cloud stop me, going mad!!LOL. Considering the conditions they were taken in I'm quite happy with them. The close ups were taken using a 3xbarlow. All around 400 frames @10fps using the same equipment. The mosaic was stitched together using i-merge, processed in Gimp2.4 oh and all were stacked in Registax4.

Cloudy nights=Redo's!!!

Not managed to get outside for nearly 3 weeks now and i'm starting to get BAD withdrawal symptoms,LOL. So i decided to go through some of the avi's i had stil while cleaning up my laptop. All i know is this was taken around begin of Feb, 1000/1200 frames used @5fps. Still using my Celestron 4 SE, 3xbarlow and Toucam pro.
To me there seems to be more detail and the colour a bit better, but then that could be me and wishful thinking,LOL.

Saturn getting loads better...

After a lot of sleepless nights sitting at the computer trying out different processing tips, help from lots of very talented people, i have managed to get a decent Saturn at long last. Taken on the 11th Feb using my Toucam pro, i changed the fps to 5 instead of 15. Thinking that it would be the other way around i was using an higher frame rate,DUH!!!. 5fps is soooo much better. Adjusted the gain, brightness n exposure to compensate and put gamma at around 50% to bring out the Cassini Division.
Just to finish off i grab the chance of grabbing an image of the Moon. Taken on the 13th Feb during daylight so not great but at least i got something. The area is mostly Boussingault craters, taken with a 3x barlow.
Equipment used for Saturn : Celestron 4SE @F13, 3x barlow, Toucam pro @5fps, 1100/1500 frames used. Stacked in Registax4 and processed between Registax4 and Gimp2.4.
